2020 ASEEES Convention Preliminary Schedule and Instructions
We are pleased to announce that the preliminary schedule for the 2020 ASEEES Annual Convention, at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park, is now available: http://www.aseees.org/convention/program
The 2020 Convention is scheduled for Thursday, November 5 through Sunday, November 8. Click on the link “Go directly to the 2020 Convention program online” to see the searchable online schedule. You can find your own panel/roundtable/meeting schedule(s) by clicking on “View the Online Program” and entering your name or your panel/roundtable/meeting title in the search box. You can also view the entire convention schedule grid under “Program Calendar” in the left navigation bar. This schedule is preliminary and subject to change.
If you see any errors in the program, please send a notification to aseees.convention@pitt.edu. If your affiliation has changed, please make the change in your profile on the ASEEES Members Site. A PDF version of the preliminary program will be available on the convention website later in the summer.
Please DO NOT ask us to move your session. The Program Chair and Program Committee have spent many days trying to avoid thematic and participant conflicts. We continue to receive scheduling requests we simply cannot accommodate, requests due to travel, classes, childcare, dinner plans or other personal situations. Religious requests have been honored to the best of our ability. Room assignments are subject to change and will be published in the final program.
The deadline to submit session changes to the final program is Sept 9. All changes should be sent to aseees.proposal@pitt.edu
COVID-19 CONTINGENCY
We are closely monitoring government mandates and CDC recommendations regarding the COVID-19 pandemic as we move toward our Convention in November. At present, we are proceeding as planned while making contingency plans and will adjust as necessary to ensure the health and well-being of our community. Be assured that we will hold a convention although it may look quite different from our traditional ones. Please read the Letter from President Jan Kubik.
We would appreciate your feedback and concerns and request that you complete the survey below:

Any updates will be posted on the Convention website as well as the ASEEES COVID-19 Updates page. As you are making travel plans, we suggest making arrangements that are refundable or transferable.
REGISTRATION
ALL participants on panels/roundtables - session chairs, discussants, paper presenters and roundtable members, must pre-register and pay the registration fee: http://www.aseees.org/convention/registration
The Early Registration Deadline is August 19. Registration rates will go up after that date. Note: Session organizers are not considered “participants” and do not need to register if that is their only function and are not attending the convention. If there are changes to the registration fees and deadlines, you will be notified of your options.
Registration exception: Exhibitors with exhibitor badges who are also participating in sessions do not need to register separately for the convention. A form will be sent to you requesting two complimentary name badges. For additional badges or other exhibitor questions, contact the convention manager aseees.convention@pitt.edu.
MEMBERSHIP RULES & EXCEPTIONS
All participants who are Slavic, East European, and Eurasian studies specialists in the US and abroad must be current ASEEES members. If you are not currently a member or have not renewed your membership for 2020, you must do so. Only specialists outside the field of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian studies are not required to join ASEEES, but must register for the convention at the non-member rate. Please note that it is cheaper to join at the Affiliate Member level than to pay the non-member regular registration fee. Consider becoming a member. Learn more about membership in ASEEES.
Membership payment is not the same as registering for the convention.
